OUR STORY
From an academic endeavor birthed under the unassuming but determined Project 2050 in the year 2017, MARRICOLA was officially launched in 2023.
Solely designed by Marriel Colaljo, MARRICOLA is the perfect expression of the designer’s creative quintessence which developed organically from her academic years as a Fine Arts student, specializing in Product Design with the University of the Philippines Cebu to her experience working as a designer for Kenneth Cobonpue.
The match that lit and started the fire proved to be the Design - entrepreneurship program which placed the designer under the extensive mentorship of Kenneth Cobonpue.
Today, MARRICOLA is a testament that some environmental problems can be solved without abandoning ingenuity, design, and function with a healthy dose of class.
MARRICOLA pieces are offsprings of an unlikely marriage of plastic cut off, heat, steel, wood, and velvet.
Each component has been surrendered by the warmth of both the heat and creators’ hands.
The primary component of the piece made from plastic cut off or reused plastics, which comprises the entire body, behaves under the heat’s influence and direction.
Wood, which places an integral component of the piece, gives warmth and serves as an anchor, no matter how untamed the waves of pattern get.
Like every work of art, MARRICOLA pieces are made and hand-sewn by our skilled partners, never compromising quality with quantity.
